FINAL APPEARANCES: BERNARD HAITINK TAKES HIS LEAVE
Source: LUCERNE FESTIVAL
05/07/2019

In March Bernard Haitink celebrated his 90th birthday and announced that he would take a sabbatical starting in the autumn. Now the Dutch maestro has made it known that he will withdraw completely from the stage and bringhis conducting career to an end. His engagement with the Vienna Philharmonic at LUCERNE FESTIVAL on 6 September will be his very last appearance — and has long been sold out. Tickets remain available for

Haitink’s other concert this summer with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, which will feature symphonies by Franz Schubert and Gustav Mahler on 20 August.
