In July 2019, the Filasteen Young Musicians Orchestra (FYMO), led by Thomas Guggeis and with soloist Michael Barenboim, will for the first time perform a series of concerts in Europe.

The Orchestra was rehearsing in Sevilla, Spain, the past few days and will play its first concert tonight, on July 5, 2019 in Malaga’s Edgar Neville Auditorium. Subsequently, the musicians will be heading to Vienna, performing at the Museums Quartier on July 7, 2019 and at the renowned Musikverein Wien on July 8, 2019. The program will consist of works by W.A. Mozart, including the Divertimento D major KV136, the Violin Concerto in G-major and the Symphony in G-minor.
The FYMO was founded in 2015 and consists of young musicians studying at the Barenboim-Said Music Center in Ramallah and other local Palestinian musicians. As the flagship of the Barenboim-Said Music Center’s various programs in Palestine, FYMO serves as a gateway for young Palestinian musicians aspiring to develop both their musical talent and personal growth.

The orchestra performs regularly at the Edward Said Hall / Palestinian Medical Relief Center and other local venues. The invitation to perform as part of the 13th Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival in Vienna is a premiere and distinct acknowledgement of the success of the Barenboim-Said Music Center in Ramallah, and a tremendous opportunity for FYMO to share their level of musicianship with the world.
