Three exceptional artists join forces for an operatic treat in 'Duets'
All good things come in threes! The history of recording boasts a long and glorious tradition of duet albums. Now, Rolando Villázon teams up with Russian bass Ildar Abdrazakov and star conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguinto to record a collection of duets for two male voices. This is the singers’ first album together and marks Abdrazakov’s debut on the yellow label. From the celebrated 'Pearl Fishers’ Duet' to less well-known excerpts from Boito’s 'Mefistofele' and Verdi’s 'Simon Boccanegra', their selection features a contrasting range of operatic music. In addition the artists also recorded two tracks with special arrangements referring to their own persons: for Rolando the legendary Granada, reflecting his Latin heritage, for Ildar the song Ochi Chernye as a tribute to his home country Russia.
